June 5, 2004 Where in the world are Kim & Alan? I know you’ve been on the edge of your seats wondering about Kim and Alan’s African Adventure... Kim & Alan arrived in Johannesburg on Tuesday May 25 and proceeded to stuff their mountains of luggage into a very tiny rental car. Sort of like the circus clown car with suitcases! They spent their first few days doing necessary (and boring) stuff. You know- insurance, residence permits, airplane stuff. Kim said that everything takes forever and she never leaves the hotel with out a book to read! They bought a South African cell phone so they can feel more at home. The airplane arrived a-ok. Alan helped unload and put it together. It was a slow process. Day 1 it got landing gear; day 2 a tail; day 3 a wing and so on. It was finally assembled and flown (by the mechanic, not Alan) and checked out just fine. With all the paperwork and boring stuff done Kim and Alan were ready to go adventuring.
